Indian Ocean Live DVD

Yesterday I bought “Indian Ocean Live in Delhi” DVD from Temptations indira nagar. This is for the first time an Indian band is coming out with their live perfomance DVD/CD. I have seen them live @ IIM Bangalore in 2006. They are one of the few fusion rock bands in india which is different with a blend Shlokas and Sufism.  After that live show I came to know why the people say their performance  is a treat to watch live. Truley, they are very good at performing live. When they told in that show that they are going to come up with a live show DVD I didn’t believe. After a gap of 2 years these guys have come up with this video which is performed at Garden of Five Senses, Delhi. It is a must to have DVD for any Indian ocean fan which revives the same live experience.

Philips HTS 3569/98 home theatre

After a lot of research, I bought Philips HTS 3569/98 home theatre system, a couple of days back. Selecting a good home theater system is not an easy thing with quite an few in market. The searched narrowed down to Sony and Philips due to the lack of other dealers. My requirement was to have an all in one system with decent sound quality in a reasonable price. The other brands like Denon, Yamaha etc who are famous for their HT systems were not there in my consideration mainly due to price. With rooms built without proper acoustics, I don’t think these will make much difference. This particular model comes with wooden speakers which has excellent acoustic property compared to plastic. I seriously don’t know about durability and it is too early to comment on that. The another great feature it has is the USB play back for video, audio and pictures which Sony doesn’t had.  I have a lot of movies in my external HDD and without writing DVD’s I can watch them by just plugging it to the player. This player also supports a wide range of video and audio codecs compared to any other players which makes it a value for money.

Pros

1. Good sound quality

2.  Plays back a wide range of file formats.

3. Audio/Video playback support from USB.

Cons

1. Awkward browsing.

Musical talent shows

I used to watch the saregama lil champ-2k6 conducted by zee tv. It was very nice watching some very matured “kids”. Some days before while browsing through the channels I found Voice of India in StarPlus and saregama challenge in Zee Tv. As usual, in any such show the initial months won’t be much interesting. You may have to eagerly wait to see some good performances. Yesterday I watched those shows again and I felt it is worth watching from now. After some rigorous elimination some best of the lot are there. The quality of singers have been pretty good in both of the shows. I am finding difficult to watch both shows because of same timings.
